Restoring Structure and Beauty to a Brick Staircase
This project involved the restoration and rebuild of an aging stone staircase integrated with a retaining wall system in Rumson, NJ. The homeowner’s goal was to repair structural failure, improve safety, and bring the steps back to a clean, cohesive look that matched the elegance of the surrounding landscape and patio.
The Challenge
When I first arrived on site, the staircase had clear signs of failure. Several rows of block had shifted and collapsed, leaving a large void in the middle of the steps. The integrity of the retaining wall was compromised, and the stairs were no longer safe or visually consistent with the rest of the property.
