Brick Wall Restoration Revives Front Entryway
This project involved restoring a brick retaining wall at the front of a client’s property in Sea Girt, NJ. Over time, the existing brickwork had deteriorated—sections were cracking, mortar had loosened, and the wall’s structure had begun to fail. The client wanted to preserve the original character of the home’s classic brick façade while ensuring the wall’s long-term stability and safety.
The Challenge
The challenge was to carefully deconstruct and rebuild sections of the aging brick wall without compromising the existing aesthetic of the property. My Approach
To begin, I assessed the wall’s foundation and identified areas that required full reconstruction versus targeted repointing. After safely removing the damaged bricks, I cleaned and prepared the existing structure for rebuilding. Using matching brick and mortar, I meticulously restored the wall to its original profile, ensuring a seamless blend between the old and new sections.
As shown in the before and after images, the rebuilt section now aligns perfectly with the rest of the wall, reinstating both its beauty and strength. The area around the lamps and capstones was finished with clean edges and even joints, giving the front entry a refreshed, polished look at this home in Sea Girt, NJ.
